Introduction – Module 1

Hi Volunteers, welcome to Module 1. I am sure you are excited to get started with the content, but before you begin, please make sure that you have spent some time going over the orientation module and have practiced using the VLE. 

It is also important that you have gone through the programme guide as this will answer any questions you have regarding when you should complete each module and the time need to dedicate to each module.

Remember if you any questions at all, please contact your programme coordinator.

Module 1 deals with issues around culture and your responsibilities as a volunteer.

Learning outcomes

• Understand the culture in the country of the international volunteering placement
• Know the responsibility of the volunteer in safeguarding and protecting children who are relevant to the planned international volunteering placement  
• Be able to manage placement challenges
• Be able to plan, deliver, and evaluate an activity
• Be able to reflect on the learning that takes place during preparation for the international volunteering placement
